Patient Safety Dashboard
We are committed to improving patient safety across Missouri Hospitals.
That’s why HIDI in partnership with the Missouri Hospital Association launched the Patient Safety dashboard, a Care OpticsĀ® product offering. This offering will aid in meeting the new CMS Patient Safety Structural Measures that went into effect Jan. 1, 2025 that is required for IPPS and voluntary for CAH’s.
This complimentary, interactive tool provides key patient safety and quality metrics, peer benchmarking capabilities, and insights to help hospitals identify best practices. It will also enhance MHA’s advocacy efforts by identifying statewide resource needs to support hospital-led safety initiatives in Missouri.
GUIDE TO understanding the patient safety structural measureS:
As part of the FY2025 final rule, CMS is requiring hospitals participating in the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) program to report on the Patient Safety Structural Measures. Why? Structural measures provide a way for hospitals to address a topic for which no outcome measure exists. CMS expects that attesting to these measures, hospitals will develop evidence-based programs and processes to support the improvements in high impact areas.Ā CMS has created five domains for measuring this:
- Leadership commitment to eliminating preventable harm.
- Strategic planning and organizational safety.
- Culture of safety and learning health systems
- Accountability and transparency
- Patient and family engagement
The structural measures will be reported through the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) platform.
